Picturesque village on the southern edge of the Hambleton Hills. The old village of Ampleforth perches at the base of the main escarpment, overlooking the Howardian Hills to the south. Several paths lead up onto hills through the woods that clink to the escarpment.
Ampleforth is most famous for the Abbey and School, to be found just to the east of Ampleforth itself.
